Open Poetry Night at the Walters Cultural Arts Center

Tuesday, October 9, 7 – 8:30 pm

Walters Cultural Arts Center – 527 E Main St

Join this fun, informal gathering of poetry-lovers for a night of enchanting verse and good conversation on the second Tuesday of every month. The Walters Cultural Arts Center hosts an evening of storytelling and poetry. Regional writers and readers are invited to indulge their poetic appetites every Second Tuesday at the monthly Open Poetry Night gathering.

This community event has become a popular place for local and area poets and lovers of poetry to meet and share both original work and work by favorite poets. All are welcome to this free event in the Walters main gallery. The Arts Center’s Open Poetry Night is an inspiring meeting of poetry-minded people. Readers and listeners of all ages and backgrounds share their own poetry—or poetry they love—before a welcoming and exuberant community of peers. All who come are welcome to read, or as some prefer, to simply sit back and enjoy their fellow bards. As always, this event is free and open to the public. A sign-up sheet will be available just prior to the event; participants old and new are encouraged to arrive early to get in the queue. Listeners will be treated to humorous and insightful wisdom from some of the region’s most compelling poets—seasoned and amateur alike.
