Step out of your comfort zone in the name of creativity, and support local arts and cultural businesses by participating in a class, performance, discussion or tour. Cultural: Don’t miss the Hillsboro Historical Society’s one-of-a kind Time Traveler’s Ball on October 14 or explore M&M Marketplace during their Dia De los Muertos Celebration on October 29.
Dance: Join in on the beginning and intermediate Salsa dance meetup at Lines Dance Studio every Tuesday in October. Enroll the kids in ballet, tap, or contemporary classes at Northwest Conservatory of Dance.
Literary: Hillsboro Public Library’s Hillsboro Reads events maintain the excitement for this year’s selection, The Other Wes Moore, throughout the month. Stop by the Walters Cultural Arts Center for Open Poetry Night on October 10.
Music: Portland Opera Presents The Magic Flute on October 21, or stop by Influence Music Hall on October 14 for the Richard Byford performance.
Theater: Bag&Baggage’s Farndale Avenue… Murder at Checkpoint Manor runs through October 31, or take the kids to see STAGES Performing Arts for Youth’s Belles on October 13 – 15.
Visual Art: Don’t miss the opening of the Plein Air exhibit at Sequoia October 3, the Westside Quilters Guild’s Biennial Quilt Show on October 7 and 8, as well as the Washington County Open Studios tour on October 21 and 22.
